Summer is well underway but not every day is a sunny one. We’re here to help you get through the sunny and not so sunny days. Here are five more activities to make a total of 280 activities to entertain yourself and stir crazy family. Will we get to 300? Stay tuned. We will definitely try!

280. HAVE FUN WITH POTATOES

My son loves potatoes. Not eating them exactly…. but, anyway, he loves potatoes. So have some fun with potatoes too! Not only can you eat stuffed potatoes (with these 50 great stuffed potato recipes from the Food Network) but potatoes are easy stuffed animals to make. Just cut two identical pieces of fabric into potato shapes. Sew eyes, a nose, and mouth onto one piece. Place that face facing the other piece and hand or machine sew around the fabric about 1/8″ from the ends leaving a half inch open. Turn fabric inside out so the face is on the outside. Stuff with cotton of some kind and sew remaining half inch to close. Don’t forget to name your potato. Billy Bob is in the above photo! For more potato fun, you can take this online potato personality quiz to determine which type of potato you are. Did you know there are 4000 varieties! Short on time to engage in potato fun? Then just watch this one minute video clip of Dan Quayle, former Vice President of the United States, spelling potato. If your interested in more potato stuff, you can listen to The Potato song by Cheryl Wheeler. Laugh at this funny potato based song! Oh, and if you actually like to eat potatoes, here are some great potato recipes.

279. ENJOY WATERCOLOR PAINTING

Water color painting is cool because you can do so much with it including decorating sneakers and making your own gift bags. Its good for all ages because it is water based and safer than oil based paint for younger kids (and easier to clean). You can watch videos about it to get better. There is so much you can do with watercolors. You can draw water color flowers of all types! Water color sunsets are also popular and easy to make. Here are lots of beautiful ideas of what you can do with water colors.

278. SING SOME FUNNY SONGS

Dance party’s are fun, but what beats that is silly music! Here are tons of silly songs to sing with your family! Check out these 50 camping songs that you don’t need to be camping to sing (or you can sing during a backyard campout!). 277. VISIT THE ATTICS OF HISTORIC HOUSES

Historic houses tend to have attics that you (and sometimes even the people working there) never get to see. I have to say, its sparked some interest for my family. The Historic Richmond Town website has been doing video tour series of their attics. The Executive Director of the nonprofit that runs this amazing place decided to take people on short tours (under 4 minutes each) of the attics she hasn’t even seen!

276. TELL SOME MATH JOKES

Kids might have heard math jokes during the school year, but now you can tell math jokes at home! This way your kids will feel like they are with their classmates even though they are e-learning. Enjoy telling tons of math jokes to your family to help keep your family sane while you are stuck at home.
